Moisture measurement of grain using humidity sensors
2001
Chen, C.
To measure the moisture content of grain, the equilibrium relative humidity (ERH) and temperature of the air environment in equilibrium with the grain were measured with temperature and humidity sensors. The humidity sensor readings were transformed by a previously established calibration equation. The moisture content was calculated by the known EMC model. Comparing calculated values with the moisture values determined by the oven drying method, the average deviations of calculated moisture content were within 1.0% for rough rice and corn kernels, excluding the RH range above 85%. This technique could serve as a monitoring system for variations in temperature and moisture content of bulk-stored grain.
