Lupane Triterpenes from the Dry Fronds of Microlepia pilosissima

Phytochemical investigation of the dry fronds of Microlepia pilosissima resulted in the isolation of three new lupane triterpenes, 3β,11α,28-trihydroxy-29-nor-lupan-20-one (1), 3β,11α-dihydroxy-29-nor-lupan-20-on-28-al (2), and 3β-acetyl-29-nor-lupan-20-on-28-al (3), together with a known compound 3β,11α-dihydroxy-29-nor-lupan-20-one (4). The structures of these compounds were elucidated mainly on the basis of spectroscopic analyses, including 1D and 2D NMR and mass spectroscopic methods.
