Nonwoven fabrics have been prepared by bonding viscose or nylon webs with natural rubber latex. The method of preparation adopted has been shown to give a reasonably reproducible material. From the effect of binder content on the stress-strain behavior of viscose fabrics it is concluded that as the binder level is increased the amount located between fibers at junction points increases until the stage is reached where the mechanical properties of the binder become reflected in the properties of the fabric. At very low binder content, fabric drape may improve considerably, but at the expense of virtually complete loss of strength.
