National food survey past and present
1984
Frank, Judith D.
The historical and present purposes of the British 44-year National Food Survey are briefly discussed. The survey data are subjected to 7 categories of analysis (by region, type of region or area, income group, housewife age, household tenure, and possession of a deep freezer). Energy value and nutrient content of consumed foods also are considered and the survey results are discussed. The weakness of the survey is in having a fairly low response of only slightly over 50%. Survey limitations are identified and described. (wz)
