First report of Pratylenchus thornei from spring wheat in southern Ontario
1997
Yu, Q.
A population of a lesion nematode with a long and slender body and a three-to-four-lip annulus was found in wheat fields from several locations of southern Ontario. After morphological and morphometric studies with the compound microscope and scanning electron microscope (SEM), the nematode was identified as Pratylenchus thornei. Males were not found in the field samples, but a number of males were present in axenic cultures of the nematodes in petri dishes. This is the first report of P. thornei on cereal grains in Ontario.
