Checking references
1986
Davidson, J.P.
Because some people misrepresent themselves on resumes or applications, it is wise to check references when considering applicants for a job. Phoning is the most efficient checking method, allowing the prospective employer to "listen between the lines." To facilitate this process, many questions to ask the referee are listed in the article. An alternative, effectively used, is a verification service, increasing the probability of selecting the best candidate. A sample format for a mail reference check is included.(jd-b)
