Variations in the development of secondary rootlets in cereals
1918
Walworth, E.H. | Smith, L.H.
A study of the development of the secondary seminal rootlets in cereals has shown that: The number is not constant, but fluctuates greatly among individuals, variations having been found ranging from 0 to 7. Different varieties of a given cereal show characteristic tendencies in the production of these rootlets. As among the different cereals observed this tendency is greater in barley than in either wheat or oats, as indicated by the varietal averages, modal numbers, and highest extremes.
