When moving up the ladder means moving out of town

Suggestions for approaching a change in job responsibilities that also require relocation, are based on concerns for other family members. Four areas should be explored before a final response is decided upon. These include (1) finanical aspects, or what lifestyle changes will occur? (2) Professional changes; how will the change affect the 2-career family? Are the career advancement and monetary reward overshadowing the impact on other family members? (3) Educational factors; will the school system be comparable, better or worse than the current one? Is the opportunity for education available for older family members? (4) Personal needs; how will family ties be affected? Once a decision to move is made, 10 suggestions are given to help make the relocation process easier. (kbc)
