Fertilizer responses of rice to nitrogen and cyanobacteria in the presence of insecticides

The performance of rice was enhanced by inoculation with cyanobacteria and urea at 72 rather than 144 kg N ha-1 without inoculation. Response in terms of plant height, productive tillering, yield or grain N-content to the insecticides Diazinon, Endosulfan or Carbofuran (active ingredients: 14, 2-5 and 10%, respectively) differed with the different amounts of urea fertilizer applied and inoculation with the cyanobacteria. Inoculation plus urea at 72 kg N ha-1 with Diazinon at 15 kg ha-1 gave the best plant performance, the highest grain yield and N-content and the most profitable chemical fertilizer N-use efficiency.
