Character association analysis in sesame (Sesamum indicum L.)
2017
Kasane, A. P. | Badhe, P. L. | Borole, D. N.
Character association and path analysis between yield and its contributing traits were studied in 40 sesame genotypes for the characters, days to flower, days to 50% flowering, days to maturity, plant height at maturity (cm), number of primary branches per plant, number of capsules per plant, number of seeds per capsule, 1000 seed weight (g), seed yield (g) and oil content (%). Analysis of variance revealed existence of significant difference among the genotypes for almost all characters studies. Seed yield was positively correlated with number of capsule per plant, 1000 seed weight, number of primary branches per plant and number of seeds per capsule. Path coefficient analysis indicated that 1000 seed weight, number of capsules per plant and number of primary branches per plant were important traits to be considered for improving the yield of sesame.
