Western range livestock operators are facing changes in grazing policies as well as changes in cattle prices and prices for the input in the production process. given these changes, a major question that evloves is "How should western livestock ranchers adjust to these changes?" This report presents a linear programming model for assessing and recommending adjustments to these types of changes. the major contribution of this report is that the model captures the seasonal forage availability which is a major characteristic of western ranching. the model also includes as explicitly as possible the production parameters so that other analysts can change these to fit the particular situation being considered.
