Extract: Linear programming was used to estimate impacts of energy price changes on crop production mixes and production practices. this tool allows selected information within the model to be changed parametrically while holding other information constant. enterprises studied were those typically found on a Midwest grain farm corn, soybeans and wheat. pasture, silage and hay production activities along with selected livestock operations were also taken into consideration. production practice alternatives centered around fertilization, tillage, and chemical treatments.
