A report for food service managers discusses recent refined applications of robots, the computer as the "brain" of the robot, the characteristics of robots, and their utility in the food service industry. It is pointed out and illustrated that the food service industry has the same types of productivity pressures that motivated heavy industry towards using robots. Specific uses of robots in the food service dishwashing activity are described, and the use of robots in fast food chains for food preparation is suggested.(wz)
