A replicated field experiment was carried out using thirty sweet potatogenotypes selected at random from the germplasm collection of diverse sources. Observations were recorded on eighteen characters. The analysis of variance revealed that there were highly significant (p<0.01) differences among the thirty genotypes for all the eighteen characters. High phenotypic coefficient of variation, genotypic coefficient of variation and high heritability with expected genetic advance were recorded for vine length, vine intermodal length, number of branches per plant, number of leaves per plant, total leaf area, root yield per plant, â-carotene content, starch content, total sugars, reducing sugars, non reducing sugars and root yield per hectare (t/ha).
