A field experiment was conducted on effect of interactions of phosphorus and azolla on growth and yield of cowpea cv. Pusa Barsati at the Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Narayangaon (Pune) (M.S.) during summer season 2011 to study the indicative beneficial effects attribute parameters and azolla interaction on various growth attribute parameters as height of plant, number of branches per plant, number of leaves per plant, Length of root, number of nodules per plant and yield attributes parameters as Length of pod, Thickness of pod, number of pods per plant, number of grain per pod and fresh yield of pods in cow pea cv. Pusa Barsati crop. Results revealed that Higher dose of phosphorus and azolla interactions increase the growth and yield attribute parameters in cow pea. Application of 120 kg P₂O₅ + 10 tons azolla per hectare treatment combination has been more beneficial in respect of all growth and yield parameters in cow pea cv. Pusa Barsati. Maximum yield of fresh Pod were found with treatment combination P₂A₂(92.70q/ha) followed by P₂A₁. (90.90q/ha), P₂A₀(86.90q/ha) and Minimum in control plot P₀A₀ (71.50 q/ha). The interaction effects of phosphorus and azolla on various growth and yield attributing parameters of cowpea were significant. The interaction of phosphorus and azolla had greatly influenced the number of pods per plants and thus increased the fresh pod yield of cowpea. It was found that the maximum fresh pod yield i.e. 92.70 q/ha could be attained with the treatment combination 120 kg P₂O₅ + 10 tons azolla per hectare.
