Trypanosoma, two cloned cDNAs coding for T. brucei brucei variant-specific antigens used as probes to evaluate (by hybridization on DNA blots) relatedness of different trypanosome clone stocks (mainly of T. b. gambiense), work provides evidence that DNA analysis may provide molecular approach to identification of African trypanosomes infective for man and characterization of their repertoire of variable antigen types
