The present investigation was conducted on 12 buffalo calves of 6–12 months of age to study biochemical changes after epidural administration of ropivacaine and in combination with dexmedetomidine as an epidural analgesia. Transitory and compensatory changes were observed after epidural administration of ropivacaine-dexmedetomidine in the buffalo calves. In the present study, after consideration of the cardio-respiratory parameters, intraoperative and postoperative analgesia ropivacaine-dexmedetomidine combination proved to be worthier than ropivacaine alone.
