A Population Study of the Cone Moth Laspeyresia Toreuta Grote in Pinus Banksiana Stands
1965
Abrahamson, Lawrence P. | Kraft, Kenneth J.
The relative density of the cone moth, Laspeyrsia toreuta, was determined for a six—year period in Pinus banksiana stands in two areas of Upper Michigan. The number of emergence holes was used as an index of population size. Density was found to be correlated at the 95% confidence level with May—June rainfall, May—June temperature and rainfall interaction, and cone production. The two areas showed similar patterns of population and cone production.
