The present investigation was carried out to estimate the genetic parameters of eight morphological traits with 22 genotypes of Mungbean. Based on the per se performance, the genotypes GM 04–02 and MH 805 had showed better yield performance suggesting that these genotypes could be used for breeding programme to develop a superior variety. The analysis of variance showed enough variability present between the genotypes for different characters. High to moderate GCV and PCV estimates and high to moderate heritability coupled with high genetic advance as per cent mean for 100 seed weight, yield, pods/plant, days to 50% flowering, plant height, pod length, 100 seed weight and yield indicating that these characters were governed by additive gene effects. Hence simple selection could be an effective method for improvement of these characters. The correlation and path analysis showed that the number of pods/plant, 100 seed weight and days to 50% flowering were important characters. Thus phenotypic selection based on these characters could be effective for improvement in mungbean genotypes.
