To assess risk for hyperkalemia in renal failure patients posed by fruit-flavored drinks, potassium (K) levels were determined in undiluted and diluted fresh juices, high-juice squash drinks, and fruit drinks. The results indicated that fruit-flavored drinks and high-juice squashes, in contrast to fresh fruit juice, pose little risk of hyperkalemia for such patients.
