A further study of the constitutive isoflavonoids in the root bark of Piscidia erythrina has yielded seven new isoflavones. These compounds have been identified by spectroscopic and chemical methods as isopiscerythrone (5,7,2',4'-tetrahydroxy-5'-methoxy-6-[3,3-dimethylallyl]isoflavone), allolicoisoflavone A (5,7,2',4'-tetrahydroxy-5'-[3,3-dimethylallyl]isoflavone). piscidanone (5,7,4'-trihydroxy-5'-methoxy-6",6"-dimethylpyrano-[2",3": 3',2']-isoflavone), piscerygenin (5,7,2',4'-tetrahydroxy-5'-methoxyisoflavone), piscisoflavone A (7,2',4'-trihydroxy-5'-methoxy-3'-[3,3-dimethylallyl]isoflavone), piscisoflavone B (7,2'-dihydroxy-5'-methoxy-6",6"-dimethylpyrano-[2",3":4',3']isoflavone) and piscisoflavone C (7-hydroxy-3'-methoxy-6",6"-dimethylpyrano[2",3":4',5']isoflavone. Isopiscerythrone, allolicoisoflavone A, piscisoflavones A and B were found to have antifungal properties.
