This chapter examines the treatment of asthma with vitamin B-6. Topics include: 1) the observed increased excretion of kynurenic and xanthurenic acids in children with bronchial asthma following oral tryptophan loading and; 2) the pyridoxine dependency hypothesis. The authors present plasma pyridoxal 5-phosphate (PLP) data for 11 adult asthmatics and the effect positive effect of supplemental pyridoxine on plasma PLP levels in 9 adult subjects.
