Reassignment of structures of the neolignans, magnosalin and andamanicin

On the basis of single crystal X-ray crystallography the structure of magnosalin now isolated from Piper clusii has been revised to 1 beta,2 alpha,3 beta,4 alpha-1,2-dimethyl-3,4-bis-(2,4,5-trimethoxyphenyl)-cyclobu tane. By analogy, another neolignan andamanicin, isolated from P. sumatranum var andamanica is also revised to 1 alpha,2 beta,3 beta,4 alpha,1,2-dimethyl-3,4- bis-(2,4,5-trimethoxyphenyl)-cyclobutane.
