Silva, josele trindade da | Braga, Tony Marcos Porto
The study was carried out in the community of Surucuá (Resex Tapajós-Arapiuns) where fishing activities were accompanied with fishermen considered experts in fishing in the period September of 2014 to July of 2015. The main technique for data collection was the interview through semi-structured questionnaire. The collected information was fragmented and scanned in a relational database in Access Platform and arranged in descriptive categories, ordering them and sorting them for easy understanding. It was noted that fishing is an important activity in terms of economic and subsistence for many families, placing agriculture as the most important activity. We find two types of fisheries resource use: consumption and sale. For the fishing activity, environments such as the river and lakes around the community are used with use of simple methods of capture. The gillnet is the type of gear used, showing variations in size, 120 m long, 3 m high and 0.40 mm mesh. The offset to the fishing spot is accomplished with the use of canoes coupled with paddle or motor to propulsion. The most cited fish species caught were pescadas (Plagioscion squamosissimus) and sardas (Pellona castelnaeana and Pellona flavipinnis). These fishermen presented a set of cultural knowledge about: behaviour, feeding, reproduction, etnotaxonomy and ecology of aquatic fauna, providing a rich source of information that can aid in the management, conservation and utilization of fishery resources in the studied area. Keywords: protected areas; fisheries resources; management.
