What are appropriate dietary guidelines?
1978
Harper, A.E.
The present health and nutrition situation in the United States is characterized, and dietary guidelines are proposed. The guidelines focus on maintenance of health rather than on the fantasy that chronic and degenerative diseases can be prevented by simplistic dietary modifications. Appropriate guidelines will provide for a nutritionally adequate diet, a program of physical activity, a variety in food selection, and avoidance of excessive intake. Specific guidelines are set forth for intake of fiber, protein, fats, carbohydrates, and related sources of energy.
