Summary: This article briefly explains how Co-op supermarkets - part owners of Federated Co-operatives Ltd.-have been gradually eroding the market share of other major food store chains in western Canada, how consumers benefit if they become shareholding members of Co-op stores, and the business relationship between Federated Co-operatives Ltd. and its independently run Co-op food stores.
