Productivity assessment of volunteer programs in not-for-profit human services organizations
1983
Gamm, L. | Kassab, C.
This paper examines issues in productivity assessment in relation to volunteer programs by analysis of survey information drawn from nearly 200 volunteer programs in selected not-for-profit human services organizations. Among th e findings is that some of the most basic elements in productivity assessment--e.g., number of volunteers and hours of volunteer service--must be interpreted in light of the considerable variation in volunteer programs across different types of organizations. Another is that productivity assessment can contribute to improvement of volunteer program administration, but if done in a haphazard of reactive fashion, can be detrimental to support and development of such programs.
