Effects of poly- and orthophosphates on the dynamics of some macro- and micro-nutrient elements in soil material of varied pH. III. Potassium

Laboratory experiment on light loamy sand was performed to study the effect of potassium polyphosphate (KPO3)n, potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KH2PO4), and triple superphosphate+potassium chloride (KCl) on the content and dynamics of potassium (K) determined by the methods of Egner-Riehm-Domingo and Rinkis. Content of available K in soil depended significantly on the form and dose of phosphorus (P)-K fertilizer, calcium carbonate (CaCO3) dose, and duration of the experiment, while it did not depend on fertilization with manganese (Mn), zinc (Zn), and copper (Cu). The effect of the tested fertilizers upon the dynamics of available K in soil was fairly similar. With time PK fertilizers resulted usually in an increase of available K in soil. The effect of liming upon relative recovery of available K depended on the fertilizer form and dose. Liming limited release of soil K caused by PK fertilization. Percentage recovery of K from P2K2 dose was usually smaller than from P1K1 dose in objects with triple superphosphate+KCl and (KPO3)n' whereas the opposite was observed in objects with KH2PO4.
