Alginate multiwall carbon nanotubes dialdehyde cellulose (ALg/MWCNTs/DAC) nanocomposite was prepared. The obtained nanomaterials were described by SEM, FTIR, TGA, and BET analyses. The SEM exhibited an average size between 85 and 100 nm for Alg/MWCNTs/DAC nanocomposite sorbent. The Alg/MWCNTs/DAC nanocomposite was studied for adsorption of copper (II) ions from the aquatic environment using batch equilibrium method under various controlling factors. The value of maximum adsorption capacity (qₘ) was distinguished as 26.6 mg g⁻¹. The time needed for the adsorption equilibrium has been reported as 2.5 h. The best fitted kinetic model is the pseudo-second-order, while the Langmuir isotherm model is the best fit for the copper (II) ion adsorption process from its aqueous solution.
