The present investigation was under taken with the objectives to find out associations among different characters and to analyze direct and indirect effects of different characters on grain yield. The experiment was conducted during Kharif 2013 at N.D. University of Agriculture and Technology, Narendra Nagar (Kumarganj), Faizabad. The experiment was based on evaluation of a line × tester set of 45 hybrids (F₁s) and their 18 parents under saline soil conditions in randomized block design with three replications. Grain yield per plant showed positive and significant correlation with L: B ratio, biological yield per plant and harvest index in saline conditions emerge as most important associates of grain yield in rice. Path analysis identified harvest-index, biological yield and grains per panicle as most important direct yield contributing traits. Grains per panicle, 1000 grain weight, kernel length, kernel breadth, L: B ratio exhibited high and positive indirect effect on grain yield via biological yield per plant and harvest index.
