To increase the harvesting efficiency of corn cultivated for grain, some improvement is necessary in the design of the rotary threshing-and-separating unit, which has a solid rotor and an increased length of the path of active separation of grain mass during threshing. Reducing the size of rotary threshers is possible by stopping the loose grain flowing into the discharge port at the end of the thresh chamber, which is achieved by using an air curtain of the discharge port. The loose grain fall will be within regulated rates with a reduced rotor length and, accordingly, a shortened path length of the active separation of the grain mass. The stopping effect on the free-flowing grain in the discharge port should ensure its movement to the lower part of the finish threshing zone, where it is advisable to install a vibrating deck segment that intensifies separation. Controlling the air curtain operation requires determining the shape of the grain profile common to the main botanical groups of corn and its effective area of contact with the air flow. The approximation of frontal and seed profile projections of dent and flint corn taken from the butt, middle and nose of the cob, in the Compas-3D environment was conducted. The values of generalized coefficients in polynomials determining the averaged geometry for the corn seed profile and the effective area of seed contact with the air flow were established. At the same time, the average value of the effective area of contact with the air flow is within 76 to 82 mm2. The obtained coefficient values are necessary to calculate the parameters of the air curtain of the discharge port of a rotary threshing separator for corn with a rotor length reduced by 10 to 15%. It is suggested to test an improved rotary threshing separator during threshing corn cobs with a moisture content of more than 14% and without previously husk removing.

Для повышения эффективности уборки кукурузы на зерно роторное молотильно-сепарирующее устройство, имеющее массивный ротор и увеличенную длину пути активной сепарации зерновой массы при обмолоте, требует совершенствования. Уменьшение размеров роторных молотильных устройств возможно путём обеспечения останавливающего воздействия на свободное зерно, летящее в выгрузное окно в конце камеры обмолота, что достигается посредством применения воздушной завесы выгрузного окна. Сход свободным зерном будет находиться на регламентированном уровне при уменьшенной длине ротора и, соответственно, укороченной длине пути активной сепарации зерновой массы. Останавливающее воздействие на свободно летящее в выгрузное окно зерно должно обеспечивать его перемещение в нижнюю часть зоны домолота, где целесообразно установить вибрационный участок деки, интенсифицирующий сепарацию. Управление действием воздушной завесы требует определения общей для основных ботанических групп кукурузы формы профиля зерна и его эффективной площади контакта с воздушным потоком. Проведена аппроксимация построенных в среде Компас-3D фронтальных и профильных проекций зерна зубовидной и кремнистой кукурузы, взятой из комля, середины и носка початка. Установлены значения обобщённых коэффициентов в полиномах, определяющих усреднённую геометрию для профиля зерна кукурузы и эффективной площади контакта зерна с воздушным потоком. При этом среднее значение эффективной площади контакта с воздушным потоком находится в пределах 76…82 мм2. Полученные значения коэффициентов позволяют рассчитать параметры воздушной завесы выгрузного окна роторного молотильно-сепарирующего устройства для кукурузы с уменьшенной на 10…15% длиной ротора. Предложено испытать усовершенствованное роторное молотильно-сепарирующее устройство в условиях обмолота початков кукурузы с влажностью более 14% и без предварительного снятия листовой обертки.
