Response of pearl millet to light and temperature
1985
Ong, C K | Monteith, J L
The germination rate of Pennisetum americanum cv. BK 560 increased linearly with temp. (10-34°C) and declined to zero at 45-47°. Other developmental processes such as leaf and spikelet initiation and tillering had a similar response to temp. increases. The leaf extension rate was also a linear function of temp. up to 34°, thus below this the time required to form a complete canopy decreased with increasing temp. The amount of DM produced/unit of intercepted radiation appears to be conservative at about 2.4 g/MJ for mean air temp.of 20-36°
