An Economic Analytical study of the Nursery of Fruit Tree Seedlings Production in Damascus countryside Governorate

The study aimed to analyze and study the economics of nurseries for the production of fruit tree seedlings. The research was carried out in the areas of the Damascus countryside governorate using a comprehensive survey of the study sample, and the number of private sector nurseries reached 31 nurseries. The research objectives were reached based on a study of the total costs of productive nurseries and economic returns. And a study of economic efficiency, which includes technical and specialized, to determine the optimal degree of efficiency for all types of fruit tree seedlings produced in nurseries, and a study of the factors affecting the increase in the size of costs, as the results of the analysis showed that seedling production nurseries achieved high revenues for the types of seedlings of almonds, olives, and apples, amounting to (101650.2، 83,499، 68,609) thousand/SYP, respectively. It also achieved a net profit of (41,403، 35,840، 30,384) thousand/SYP for almonds, apples, and olives, and the economic efficiency reached optimum for the types of crops produced (89%, 85%, 78% for olives, walnuts, and almonds, respectively, and technical efficiency (88%, 80%, 76%) for each of the olive, walnut, and (fig-pomegranatemulberry) plants, respectively, and the increase in pesticide prices and the quantity of fertilizers and water by 1%. It led to an increase in the cost by (0.27%, 0.23%, 0.08%) respectively at a significance level of 1%. The research reached a set of recommendations to expand the production of seedlings with the desired varieties and origins and establish mother farms to reach optimal production efficiency and use production inputs in a proper manner. Optimal to achieve technical and economic efficiency, and investment in the field of planting production because this activity achieves economic profit
