The objective of this research is to discover the characteristics of successful administration. In order to achieve this, a method of research has been developed which is in turn used to conduct observations. With a better and more precise insight into administration and into its relation with company circumstances casu quo complexity and with the financial result, successful combinations of these dimensions can be discovered. On the basis of that the administration can be Improved in a sensible manner. The research method is of an empirical and retrospective nature. The research project concerns pot-plant nurseries.In order to measure the administration, the complexity and the financial result, measuringinstruments have been developed. The quality of these measuring-instruments has been determined on the basis of their validity and reliability. Hypotheses have been postulated and research questions have been raised. With the measuring-instruments observations have been conducted with which the hypotheses casu quo research questions were tested casu quo analyzed. These observations were conducted on a limited scale, at eight companies to be exact. This means that the results should be used with some circumspection. The hypotheses casu quo research questions concern:- the interrelation between the complexity, the administrational means and the quality of the decision-making process;- the explanation of the financial result from the complexity and the quality of the decisionmaking process;- the interrelation between the total financial result and that of the preparation or realization of the cultures, and;- the interrelation between the content- and administration-technical dimension of the decision- making process.
