Agua contaminada e infecciones del tracto gastrointestinal en población pediátrica de la vereda Santa Isabel (Guasca) | Contaminated water and infections of the gastrointestinal tract in the pediatric population of the Santa Isabel village (Guasca)

La insuficiente cobertura de acueducto y alcantarillado es una problemática de salud pública que se presenta en el país, afecta en gran medida a las poblaciones rurales, trayendo consigo diferentes tipos de problemáticas, dentro de las cuales se encuentran las enfermedades gastrointestinales afectando a todas las poblaciones etarias, siendo la población infantil la más vulnerable a estas. Se realizó este estudio observacional descriptivo de corte transversal en la población de la vereda de Santa Isabel donde encuestan a 19 familias que habitan en la vereda y se analizan condiciones sociodemográficas, características del agua tratada por plantas de agua de consumo en la vereda y agua que se consume que no es tratada. La vereda Santa Isabel es una de las que se ha visto afectada por esta problemática, requiriendo el suplemento de esta agua potable a partir del Río Teusacá. Es por esto que por medio de la presente investigación se busca recolectar información que permita tener aspectos claves para poder identificar el posible grupo etario más afectado y las variables más relevantes a tener en cuenta, para que se permita en próximas investigaciones generar estrategias eficaces y pertinentes para la prevención de las enfermedades gastrointestinales en la población infantil que se relacionan al consumo de agua del Río Teusacá y así corregir e intervenir posteriormente de manera oportuna en factores de riesgo que conlleven a un aumento en la incidencia de enfermedades gastrointestinales. Al realizar el análisis de datos se concluye con que la incidencia de enfermedades gastrointestinales tanto en la población infantil como en adulta se vería reducida con intervenciones de promoción y prevención a esta población por la dificultad de cercanía a centros de salud y no todos cuentan con estrategias para prevenir algún tipo de enfermedad.

The insufficient coverage of water and sewage systems is a public health problem that is present in the country, affecting rural populations to a great extent, bringing with it different types of problems, among which are gastrointestinal diseases affecting all age groups, with the child population being the most vulnerable to these. This descriptive observational cross-sectional study was carried out in the population of the Santa Isabel district where 19 families living in the district were surveyed and sociodemographic conditions, characteristics of the water treated by water consumption plants in the district and water consumed that is not treated were analyzed. The Santa Isabel district is one of those that has been affected by this problem, requiring the supplement of this drinking water from the Teusacá River. This is why this research seeks to collect information that will allow us to have key aspects to identify the most affected age group and the most relevant variables to take into account, in order to generate effective and relevant strategies for the prevention of gastrointestinal diseases in the child population that are related to the consumption of water from the Teusacá River and thus correct and intervene later in a timely manner in risk factors that lead to an increase in the incidence of gastrointestinal diseases. The data analysis concluded that the incidence of gastrointestinal diseases in both the child and adult population would be reduced with promotion and prevention interventions for this population due to the difficulty of proximity to health centers and not all of them have strategies to prevent some type of disease.
