Respostas produtivas e morfofisiológicas de Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandu em sistema silvipastoril | Morphophysiological and productive responses of Marandu palisade grass (Brachiaria brizantha) in silvopastoral system

Para compor essa tese foram preparados dois artigos científicos baseados em estudos de estrutura do pasto, morfologia e arquitetura de perfilhos, características agronômicas e fisiológicas de capim-marandu em sistema silvipastoril. Os sistemas de produção avaliados foram: pecuária com pastagens exclusivas de Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandu; e silvipastoril, com pastagens de Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandu com renques triplos de árvores de Eucalyptus urograndis. O delineamento foi em blocos completos casualizados, com três repetições, e o período experimental foi de outubro de 2015 a setembro de 2016. Os pastos foram manejados em sistema de lotação contínua, comtaxa de lotação variável, e meta de altura pré-estabelecida de 30 cm. O objetivo com o primeiro artigo foi avaliar as características estruturais do pasto, a arquitetura e a morfologia de perfilhos de capim- maranduem sistema silvipastoril. No sistema silvipastoril, a massa de forragem (MF) reduziu com o aumento do sombreamento (p < .0001). No sistema silvipastoril, foi observado uma redução de 23,7% na MF e de 19,7% na densidade de forragem, quando comparado com o sistema pecuária. A área foliar específica (AFE) foi 10% maior no sistema silvipastoril em relação ao sistema pecuária. Foram observadas diferenças entre faces apenas no outono, quando a AFE na face sul foi 31% maior em relação a face norte. O número total de folhas (4,95 ± 0,26), folhas vivas (3,25 ± 0,14), folhas mortas (1,60 ± 0,14) e área por folha (9,75 cm 2 folha –1 ) não foram influenciados por sistema ou interação sistema x estação. O sistema silvipastoril foi afetado apenas por variações nas estações. As características individuais de perfilhos tiveram pouca variação entre os sistemas e maiores variações ocorreram em função dos diferentes níveis de sombreamento dentro do sistema silvipastoril. No segundo artigo, o objetivo foi avaliar as características agronômicas e fisiológicas do capim-marandu em sistema silvipastoril. Os sistemas apresentaram padrão de resposta semelhante para as características fisiológicas, não sendo verificadas diferenças para condutância estomática (gs), eficiência de uso da água (EUA), eficiência intrínseca de uso da água (EIUA), transpiração (E), razão de transpiração (RT) e temperatura da folha (Tleaf), que resultou em acúmulo de forragem (AF) e taxa de acúmulo de forragem (TAF) semelhante. No sistema silvipastoril, houve maior efeito do sombreamento apenas na distância de 4 m, que teve redução de 34% na radiação fotossinteticamente ativa (RAF), menor E e RT, e maior EUA. Contudo, quando o sistema silvipastoril é avaliado como um todo, a redução de 19% na RAF não é suficiente para causar redução no AF e TAF. Sistemas silvipastoris, com linhas triplas e espaçamento de 30 metros entre os renques, apresenta um grande potencial para uso, quando corretamente manejado para minimizar a interferência do componente arbóreo na produção de forragem. A estrutura do pasto, morfologia e arquitetura de perfilho, bem como, as características fisiológicas do capim-marandu no sistema silvipastoril foram pouco afetados, assegurando que a produtividade do sistema fosse mantida em níveis semelhantes aos do sistema pecuária sem árvores.

For this thesis, two manuscripts were prepared based on studies of sward structural characteristics, tiller morphology and architecture, agronomic and physiological characteristics of Marandu palisade grass in silvopastoral system. The production systems evaluated were: livestock with exclusive pastures of Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandu; and silvopastoral system with pastures of Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandu and a triple row of Eucalyptus urograndis trees. The design was a randomized block, with three replications, and the experimental period was from October 2015 to September 2016. Pastures were managed in continuous stocking system, with variable stocking rate, and pre-established height target of 30 cm. In the first manuscript the objective was to evaluate sward structural characteristics, tiller morphology and architecture of Marandu palisade grass in silvopastoral system. In the silvopastoral system, the forage mass (FM) decreased (p < .0001) as shading increased. The silvopastoral system decreases 23.7% of FM and 19.7% in sward density, when compared with the livestock system. In the silvopastoral system, specific leaf area (SLA) was 10% higher than in the livestock system. The differences between faces were only observed in autumn when the SLA on the south face was 31% larger than on the north face. The total number of leaves (4.95 ± 0.26), live leaves (3.25 ± 0.14), dead leaves (1,6 ± 0.14) and the area per leaf (9.75 cm 2 leaf –1 ) were not influenced by the system x season or system interaction. The silvopastoral system was only affected by seasonal variations. The tillers’ individual characteristics had little variation between the systems and larger variations occurred due to the different shading gradients within the silvopastoral system. In the second manuscript the objective was to evaluate agronomic and physiological characteristics of Marandu palisade grass in silvopastoral system. The systems presented a similar response pattern for the physiological characteristics, and no difference was registered for stomatal conductance (gs), water use efficiency (WUE), water use intrinsic efficiency (WUIE), leaf transpiration rate (E) transpiration ratio (E/A), and leaf temperature (Tleaf), which resulted in similar forage accumulation (FA) and forage accumulation rate (FAR). In silvopastoral system, there was a shading effect only in the distance of 4 m, which had 34% of reduction in photosynthetically active radiation (PAR), lower E and E/A, and higher EWA. Although, when evaluating the silvopastoral as a whole, 19% of PAR reduction was not able to cause depletion in the FA or FAR. Silvopastoral systems, with triple lines and 30 meters spaced, present a great potential for use, when correctly managed to minimize the tree component interference in the forage growth. The sward structure, tiller morphology and architecture, as well as the physiological characteristics of Marandu palisade grass in Silvopastoral were slightly affected, ensuring that the productivity of the silvopastoral system was maintained in levels similar to livestock system without trees.
