HEALTH AND LEISURE PROGRAM IN IFSC: CONTRIBUTING TO REACH AN ACTIVE LIFE DURING THE AGING PROCESS | PROGRAMA SAÚDE E LAZER NO IFSC: CONTRIBUINDO PARA O ENVELHECIMENTO ATIVO

anglais. Aging is a complex process involving multiple factors that interact with each other intrinsically. Demographic data are eloquent in showing that the segment of the population that has had greater proportional increase is composed of people over 60, indicating the relevance of scientific and social programs that contribute to health promotion and to the implementation of social policies and educational interventions to people during their aging process. In this perspective, this article describes the alternative intervention program Health and Leisure carry out at Instituto Federal de Santa Catarina – IFSC through educational activities for seniors. It contemplates the biopsychosocial aspects of human aging and its guideline is a physical education program. The results obtained indicate the increase of social relations, the improvement in functional capacity and the raise of the participants’ self-esteem.

portugais. O envelhecimento é um processo complexo, envolvendo vários fatores que interagem entre si de forma intrínseca. Os dados demográficos são eloquentes ao mostrar que o segmento da população que vem tendo maior aumento proporcional é composto por pessoas com mais de 60 anos de idade, evidenciando a relevância científica e social de programas que contribuam para a promoção da saúde e a implementação de políticas sociais e ações educativas voltadas para o indivíduo que envelhece. Nesta perspectiva, o presente artigo busca mostrar alternativas de intervenção através do Programa Saúde e Lazer no Instituto Federal de Santa Catarina - IFSC - por meio de uma proposta de ação educativa para idosos, contemplando os aspectos biopsicossociais do envelhecimento humano, tendo como proposta norteadora um programa de atividade física. Como resultados deste trabalho, observa-se o aumento das relações sociais, melhora na capacidade funcional e autoestima dos participantes.
