Propuesta de un kit básico para la potabilización de agua en áreas rurales

El presente estudio busca proponer un kit básico para la potabilización de agua en zonas rurales mediante ensayos de prueba de jarras, empleando sulfato de aluminio, polímero e hipoclorito de calcio. Para la parte experimental se utilizó agua de turbiedad baja (10 NTU), media (20 NTU) y alta (70 NTU). Inicialmente se determinaron las dosis óptimas de cada reactivo por separado, en base a aquella que presentaba mayor remoción de turbiedad, color, coliformes fecales y dejaba un cloro libre residual dentro de la normativa. Después se aplicó dichas dosis en diferentes combinaciones de reactivos, para determinar aquella que permitiera obtener los mejores resultados, en base al criterio establecido en la etapa inicial. Finalmente, se validó el kit básico de potabilización en un volumen de 20 litros de agua cruda. Se determinó que en el caso de las tres turbiedades la combinación que permitió obtener agua de mejor calidad para consumo humano fue la que contenía tres reactivos. Para 10 y 20 NTU el kit básico de potabilización estaba formado por sulfato de aluminio, polímero más hipoclorito de calcio en dosis de 40; 0,10 y 4 mg/L, respectivamente, y para 70 NTU las dosis fueron 30; 0,05 y 5 mg/L, respectivamente.

The present study seeks to propose a water purification basic kit in rural zones by testing jars, using aluminum sulphate, polymer and calcium hypochlorite. Water was used with three levels of turbidity: low (10 NTU), medium (20 NTU) and high (70 NTU). At the beginning, the optimal doses of each reagent were determined separately, based on the one that had a greater removal of turbidity, color, fecal coliforms and left residual free chlorine within the regulation. After, these doses were applied in different combinations of reagents, to be able to determine the one that allows to obtain the best results, based on the criterion established in the initial part. Finally, the basic purification kit was validated in a volume of 20 liters of raw water. It was determined that in the case of the three turbidities the combination that allowed to obtain better quality water for human consumption was the one that contained three reagents. For 10 and 20 NTU the basic purification kit consisted of aluminum sulphate, polymer plus calcium hypochlorite in doses of 40; 0,10 and 4 mg/L, respectively, while for 70 NTU doses were 30; 0,05 and 5 mg/L, respectively.
