Undersøkelser av kveis (Phocanema desipiens) i torsk (Gadus morhua) fanget i kystnære områder utenfor Ålesund | Investigations of the incidence of cod-worm (Phocanema decipiens) in cod fillets in coastal areas outside Aalesund, Norway
1984
Roald, Sverre Ola | Høihjelle, Lars
From April 1981 to April 1982 2328 cod fillets from three local fishing grounds outside Aalesund were examined for the presence of larval nematode worms (Phocanema decipiens). In average, from 44.8 to 63.1 per cent of the fillets were infested, with heaviest infestation close to the shore. The number of infested fillet appears to decrease with the length of the fillets, with highest infestation in fillets less than 30 cm. The average number of worms per infected fillet varied from 4.0 to 5.0 parasites per fillet. As much as 50 worms were found in one fillet. In the fillets, the worms were most frequently found in the portions of the fillet adjacent to the body cavity. The results of the investigation are compared with those of Canadien and European scientists working on this problem.
