Botnfiskundersøkingar i Barentshavet vinteren 1996

A combined acoustic and bottom trawl survey to obtain indices of abundance and estimates of length and weight at age has been carried out each winter (4-6 weeks in January- March) since 198 1 in the Barents Sea. The target species are cod and haddock, but in recent years abundance indices have also been worked out for the redfish species and Greenland halibut. Since 1993 the survey area has been extended to the north and east in order to obtain a more complete coverage of the younger age groups of cod. The main results in 1996 were: - the abundances of 1 and 2 year old cod were among the highest in the time series - the abundances of 3-5 year old cod were considerably lower than in 1995 both in the bottom trawl survey and in the acoustic survey, while the number of 6-7 year old cod was the highest in the time series - length and weight at age were low for most age groups of cod, while the conditionfactors were at a more normal leve1 and a little higher than in 1995 - the abundances of 1-4 year old haddock were lower than in 1995 and below the average for the time series, the nurnber of 5 year olds was lower than in 1995 but still the second highest in the time series, while the abundances of 6-7 years old haddock were the highest ever observed - length and weight at age were low als0 for haddock, for 1-4 years old fish a little higher than in 1995 and for 5-6 years old fish a little lower - the abundance of redfish decreased somewhat from 1995 to 1996 - the total abundance index of Greenland halibut decreased mainly due to poor coverage in the Svalbard area. The abundance of 1 year olds was higher than in the previous years while the abundances of the other young age groups (4 years) still were very low. NORSK SAMMENDRAG: Eit kombinert akustikk- og botntråltokt med sikte på å fiamskaffa indeksar for talet på fisk og data for individuell lengde og vekt av kvar aldersgruppe av viktige botnfiskarter er gjennomført kvar vinter (4-6 veker i januar - mars) sidan 198 1 i Barentshavet. Hovudinnsatsen er retta mot ungfiskbestandane av torsk og hyse, men i seinare år er slike indeksar også utarbeidde for uerartene og blåkveite. Sidan 1993 er undersøkingsområdet utvida mot nord og aust for å få ei fullstendig dekking av den isfrie delen av utbreiingsområdet til dei yngste årsklassane av torsk. Resultata for 1996 viser: - talet på 1 og 2 år gama1 torsk var mellom dei bgaste i tidsserien - talet for 3-5 år gama1 torsk var vesentleg Iågare enn i 1995 både i botntrålundersøkinga og i den akustiske undersøkinga, medan det var meir 6-7 år gamal fisk enn noko tidlegare år i tidsserien - lengde og vekt ved alder var låg for dei fleste aldersgrupper av torsk, medan kondisjonsfaktorane var tilnærma normale og litt betre enn i 1995 - talet for 1-4 år gama1 hyse var lågare enn i 1995 og under gjennomsnittet for tidsserien, talet for 5-åringar var noko lågare enn i fjor men framleis det nest høgaste i tidsserien, medan talet for 6-7 år garnal hyse var det beste som er registrert - lengde og vekt ved alder var låg også for hyse, for 1-4 år gamal fisk litt høgare enn i 1995, for 5-6 år gama1 fisk litt lågare, medan kondisjonsfaktorane var omlag normale - indeksane for begge dei kommersielle uerartene var noko lågare enn i 1995 - totalindeksen av blåkveite vart ein del redusert i høve til 1995, mest grunna mindre dekning i Svalbardområdet. Det vart registrert fleire 1 - åringar enn i dei tidlegare åra, medan resten av dei yngste årsklassane (<5år) framleis var svært fåtalige.
