Overview of areas sensitive to acidification: Europe

We present here an overview of the geographical extent of areas in Europe sensitive to acidification due to acid deposition. Information on water sensitivity comes from a variety of detailed national maps of water chemistry, soil type and bedrock geology. The resulting sensitivity map serves as a basis for the choice of catchments in the International Co-operative Programme on Assessment and Monitoring of Acidification in Rivers and Lakes.
