2018
Saito, S. (Fukui Prefectural Livestock Experiment Station (Japan)) | Ishikawa, T. | Yoshida, Y.
In this study, reproductive performances, growth performances, and meat qualities of LB × D, LW × B and LW × D were compered in order to develop new brand-name pork of Fukui prefecture. Furthermore, technics to get equivalent (number of first litter, survival rate at weaning, and growth) to LW × D were examined. As the result of investigation about reproductive performance, the numbers of weaned litter of LB × D and LW × B was same as LW × D. The increases in amounts of feed before artificial insemination and farrowing, and the ceaseless feeding before artificial insemination had no significant effect on rises in the litter size and the number of weaned litter. Growth speed of LB × D and LW × B was significantly faster than LW × D. Feed made from palm was conducted as the technic to improve growth, and an increased growth speed could be seen. As the result of investigation about meat quality, the intramuscular fat of LB × D was higher than LW × B and LW × D. The result of sensory evaluation showed LB × D taste was better than LW×B. Considering all various factors, LB × D was adopted as new brand-name pork due to the equivalent reproductive and growth performance to LW × D and better meat quality.
