Avaliação da influência da moagem na digestibilidade dos nutrientes em rações extrusadas para cães e gatos

Sabe-se que há aumento na digestibilidade dos cereais destinados a cães e gatos através do processo de extrusão, fato este relacionado à gelatinização do amido. Entretanto, características físicas do alimento, como o grau de moagem e a granulometria influenciam diretamente esse aproveitamento. Assim, menores granulometrias permitem maior gelatinização do amido durante o processo de extrusão, havendo maior ação das enzimas digestivas sobre os nutrientes da dieta resultando em uma melhor digestibilidade. Tendo em vista a falta de estudos realizados sobre essas características físicas relacionadas ao aproveitamento dos nutrientes, essa temática é de grande importância para a indústria pet food, pois viabiliza o processo de produção e também possibilita uma melhor digestibilidade das rações. Sendo assim, o presente estudo possui como objetivo avaliar, através de revisão bibliográfica, a influência da moagem e da granulometria representada pelo diâmetro geométrico médio de diferentes grãos utilizados sobre o coeficiente de digestibilidade aparente dos nutrientes presentes em rações extrusadas para cães e gatos. O amido é a maior fonte de energia dos grãos utilizados em rações animais, e este possui papel importante por estar ligado diretamente a qualidade final do extrusado, contribuindo para maior expansão e coesão entre os ingredientes e nutrientes da mistura. A melhor moagem dos ingredientes das rações apresentou um maior aproveitamento dos nutrientes e melhor gelatinização do amido. Contudo, o grau de moagem e a granulometria foi dependente do ingrediente utilizado na dieta. A redução do diâmetro geométrico médio não resultou em aumento de digestibilidade das dietas com fonte de arroz, já para o milho e o sorgo a digestibilidade foi maior com menor granulometria.

It is known that there is an increase in the digestibility of cereals destined to dogs and cats through the extrusion process, a fact related to the gelatinization of the starch. However, the physical characteristics of the food, such as the degree of grinding and granulometry, directly influence this performance. Thus, smaller granulometry allows greater gelatinization of the starch during the extrusion process, with greater action by the digestive enzymes on the nutrients of the diet resulting in a better digestibility. Considering the lack of studies carried out on these physical characteristics related to the use of nutrients, this theme is of great importance for the pet food industry, as it enables the production process and also allows a better digestibility. The objective of this study was to evaluate the influence of milling and granulometry through the mean geometric diameter of different grains used in the diet in response to the apparent digestibility coefficient of the nutrients present in extruded diets for dog and cats. Starch is the major energy source of grains used in animal feed, and this has an important role because it is directly linked to the final quality of the extrudate, which contributes to greater expansion and cohesion between the ingredients and nutrients of the mixture. The grinding of the feed ingredients showed a better utilization of the nutrients and better gelatinization of the starch. However, the degree of milling and granulometry was dependent on the ingredient used in the diet. The mean geometric diameter reduction did not result in an increase in the digestibility of the diets with rice source.
