Vírus da diarreia viral bovina em suínos

Os suínos são suscetíveis a infecções por diversas espécies de pestivírus que podem causar perdas na produtividade e confundir o diagnóstico. O vírus da peste suína clássica (CSFV) é um agente de notificação obrigatória para a Organização Mundial de Saúde Animal (OIE); contudo, a infecção pelo vírus da diarréia viral bovina (BVDV) em suínos pode cursar com quadro semelhante em algumas situações e causar confusão no diagnóstico dependendo do método empregado. O conhecimento do histórico, epidemiologia, sintomatologia clínica e métodos de diagnóstico que permitam a diferenciação são necessários para uma perspectiva do impacto de uma possível infecção pelo BVDV em suínos. Com isso, o objetivo do presente trabalho é abordar as características das infecções por pestivírus em suínos, salientando as principais diferenças entre o CSFV e o BVDV.

Pigs are susceptible to infection by several species of pestivirus that can cause productivity losses and confusion in diagnosis. The classical swine fever virus (CSFV) is an notifiable agent to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE); however, infection with bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) in swine can display similar manifestations in some situations and confuse the diagnosis depending on the method used. Knowledge of the history, epidemiology, clinical symptoms and diagnostic methods that allow differentiation are required for a perspective on the possible impact of BVDV infection in pigs. Thus, the objective of the present work is to present the characteristics of pestivirus infections in swine, emphasizing the main differences between CSFV and BVDV.
