Ishimaru, M. | Shiga, E.
The purpose of this paper is to analyze periodization and classification in the development of vegetable production in Hokkaido from 1971 to 2010, based on agricultural output and a simple coefficient of specialization. In Hokkaido, the agricultural output of vegetables is increasing and the change in conditions is relatively stable. As overall agricultural production in Hokkaido is decreasing, it is important for Hokkaido to promote vegetable production. According to the result of this study, vegetable production in Hokkaido can be divided into five periods according to the agricultural output of vegetables and the ratio. The coefficients of specialization of vegetables of all the municipalities in Hokkaido are calculated, and the data are used to classify all municipalities into nine types.
