The pattern of understory reinitiation in dense plantations of sugi (Cryptomeria japonica D. Don)
2016
Kunisaki, T.
The effects of both the degree of crowding and of stand structure on understory reinitiation were investigated in dense plantations of Sugi (Cryptomeria japonica D. Don), between ages 8- to 52-years old. The abundance of floor vegetation cover was positively correlated with stand age when the value of relative spacing index (Sr) was constant. The stem density of shrub layer was positively correlated with the Sr. In overcrowded stands with live branch height >=10m, the abundance of floor vegetation cover increased with live branch height.
