Hybrids between Indonesian common carp and Nishikigoi, Cyprinus carpio
2018
Sato, S.
Six matings of two groups, using Indonesian common carp with long fins, Nishikigoi (Cyprinus carpio) and its hybrid: F1 with long fins were carried out in order to investigate their morphological, biological and ornamental characters. The progenies between Nishikigoi and Indonesian common carp had little value as ornamental fish, Nishikigoi. However, the progenies between Nishikigoi and F1 were similar levels to the normal Nishikigoi progenies. The best growth rates of 0-year-old and 1-year-old showed on Nishikigoi *Indonesian common carp groups. The worst ones were on normal Nishikigoi groups. The results of comparison of body shape (body depth/body length, caudal peduncle depth/body depth, body width/body length) showed which some traits had significance. However, the visible body shapes did not have difference so much. The strongest groups as the resistance to the New Ulcerative Disease caused atypical Aeromonas salmonicida were Nishikigoi *Indonesian common carp. The second groups were Nishikigoi *F1. Hybridization using Indonesian common carp doesn't need longer term than using common carp (wild color) concerning breeding for strong and well growth.
