Disponibilidad de agua y aporte de biomasa bajo diferentes estrategias de barbecho

El objetivo de este trabajo fue evaluar el efecto de diferentes estrategias de barbecho sobre la humedad gravimétrica del suelo y la disponibilidad de agua útil para el cultivo sucesor y analizar el aporte de biomasa de los cultivos de cobertura. En la Estación Experimental J. Hirschhorn, Facultad de Ciencias Agrarias y Forestales, Universidad Nacional de La Plata, Argentina, sobre un suelo Argiudol típico, se iniciaron en 2011, ensayos a campo en los que se comparan distintas secuencias agrícolas: S1: trigo/soja 2º maíz–soja–trigo; S2: cebada/soja 2º maíz–soja–trigo; S3: avena/soja 2º maíz–girasol–trigo; S4: colza/soja 2º maíz–sorgo–trigo; bajo dos formas de producción, un nivel tecnológico medio y un nivel tecnológico alto. En 2016, entre la cosecha de la soja 2º y la siembra del maíz, sobre el nivel tecnológico medio se realizaron tres tipos de barbechos: barbecho químico, aplicación de compost e inclusión de cultivos de cobertura. Sobre el nivel tecnológico alto se realizó cultivo de cobertura. El compost y el cultivo de cobertura resultaron superiores al barbecho químico en la conservación de agua útil para el cultivo sucesor. La biomasa aportada por el cultivo de cobertura resultó en promedio de 3.397,91 kg/ha y presentó diferencias estadísticamente significativas para las diferentes secuencias siendo mayor para S4 y menor en S1. A su vez la mayor producción de biomasa del cultivo de cobertura en S4 se correspondió con un mayor uso consuntivo y menor agua útil final. Considerando el nivel tecnológico, el cultivo de cobertura resultó con mayor volumen de residuo en el nivel tecnológico alto, lo que implicó una mejora en la eficiencia de utilización del agua. The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of different fallow strategies on the gravimetric moisture of the soil and the availability of useful water for the successor crop and to analyze the biomass contribution of the cover crops. In the Experimental Station J. Hirschhorn, Facultad de Ciencias Agrarias y Forestales, Univesidad Nacional de La Plata, Argentina, on an Argiudol typical soil. Field trials were started in 2011 in which different agricultural sequences were compared: S1: wheat / soybean 2nd corn-soybean-wheat; S2: barley / soybean 2nd cornsoybean-wheat; S3: oats / soybean 2nd corn-sunflower-wheat; S4: rapeseed / soybean 2nd maize-sorghum-wheat; under two forms of production, an average technological level and a high technological level. In 2016, between the 2nd soybean harvest and the corn sowing, on the average technological level, three types of fallow were made: chemical fallow, compost application and inclusion of cover crops. On the high technological level, cover crop was cultivated. Compost and cover crop were higher to chemical fallow in the conservation of water useful for the successor crop. The biomass provided by the cover crop resulted in an average of 3,397.91 kg/ha and presented statistically significant differences for the different sequences, being higher for S4 and lower on S1. In turn, the higher biomass production of the cover crop in S4 corresponded to a higher consumptive use and lower final useful water. Considering the technological level, the cover crop resulted in a higher volume of waste at the high technological level, which implied an improvement in water use efficiency.
