Upeņu kolekcijas vērtējums klimata pārmaiņu izraisīto stresu ietekmē = Evaluation of blackcurrant collection under the influence of stress caused by climate change

Currants have become an important commercial crop in Latvia in recent years. However, their cultivation has been increasingly affected by the conditions caused by the climate change, such as an increase in the average air temperature, shortening of the winter period, frosts during bud burst and flowering, sharp temperature and humidity fluctuations, heat waves, etc. Climate change also affects the spread of pests and diseases. This makes it necessary to carefully evaluate the suitability of the existing cultivars for climate change and to think about the breeding and introduction of new cultivars that are more adapted. During 2019–2022 in the research centre of the Institute of Horticulture in Pūre (Tukums region), the evaluation of the blackcurrant collection was carried out with the aim to evaluate the resistance of the genotypes under the conditions of stress caused by the climate change and to select the best genotypes for further use in breeding and/or production. In total, 58 genotypes were evaluated. The plantation was established in 2017–2018 in the field with reduced relief, increased soil moisture and the risk of frost, which allowed a better assessment of plant resistance under stressful conditions. Genotypes were evaluated for winter hardiness, frost resistance, yield, resistance to pests and diseases. Among the evaluated genotypes, ‘Asker’, GEN 264, GEN 767, ‘Mara Eglite’ and X-4 showed the best winter hardiness and frost resistance. Cultivars ‘Gagatai’, ‘Gofert’ and ‘Tihope’ were the most productive. Good pest and disease resistance was shown by ‘Almiai’, ‘Almo’, ‘Atlant’, ‘Ats’, ‘Ben Finlay’, ‘Ben Gairn’, ‘Ben Hope’, ‘Domino’, ‘Elo’, ‘Gagatai’, GEN Drudze, ‘Gerkules’, ‘Karmen’, ‘Mara Eglite’, PC-173, ‘Pilenai’, ‘Poezija’, ‘Polar’, ‘Polares’, ‘Ritmo’, ‘Ronix’, SCRI 9154-3, ‘Šarovidnaja’, ‘Tatjaņin Deņ’, ‘Tiben’, ‘Tines’, ‘Tisel’, ‘Varmas’, VI-2, XII-26 and 79-204-2. [LAV] Upenes pēdējos gados Latvijā kļuvušas par komerciāli nozīmīgu kultūraugu. Tomēr arvien vairāk to audzēšanu sāk ietekmēt klimata pārmaiņu izraisītie apstākļi, tādi kā vidējās gaisa temperatūras paaugstināšanās, ziemas perioda saīsināšanās, sals un salnas pumpuru plaukšanas un ziedēšanas laikā, krasas temperatūras un mitruma svārstības, karstuma viļņi u. c. Klimata pārmaiņas ietekmē arī kaitēkļu un slimību izplatību. Tas liek rūpīgi izvērtēt audzēšanā esošo šķirņu piemērotību klimata izmaiņām un domāt par jaunu – klimata pārmaiņām piemērotāku šķirņu selekciju un ieviešanu audzēšanā. Laika posmā no 2019. līdz 2022. gadam Dārzkopības institūta pētījumu centrā Pūrē (Tukuma nov.) tika veikta upeņu kolekcijas izvērtēšana ar mērķi novērtēt kolekcijā iekļauto genotipu izturību klimata pārmaiņu radīto stresu apstākļos un izdalīt labākos genotipus turpmākai izmantošanai selekcijā un/vai ražošanā. Kopā vērtēti 58 genotipi. Stādījums ierīkots 2017.–2018. gadā laukā ar pazeminātu reljefu, paaugstinātu augsnes mitrumu un salnu risku, kas ļāva labāk izvērtēt augu izturību stresa apstākļos. Genotipiem vērtēta ziemcietība, salnu izturība, ražība, izturība pret kaitēkļiem un slimībām. No vērtētajiem genotipiem vislabāko ziemcietību un salnu izturību uzrādīja ‘Asker’, GEN 264, GEN 767, ‘Mara Eglite’ un X-4. Visražīgākās bija šķirnes ‘Gagatai’, ‘Gofert’ un ‘Tihope’. Labu izturību pret kaitēkļiem un slimībām uzrādīja ‘Almiai’, ‘Almo’, ‘Atlant’, ‘Ats’, ‘Ben Finlay’, ‘Ben Gairn’, ‘Ben Hope’, ‘Domino’, ‘Elo’, ‘Gagatai’, GEN Drudze, ‘Gerkules’, ‘Karmen’, ‘Mara Eglite’, PC-173, ‘Pilenai’, ‘Poezija’, ‘Polar’, ‘Polares’, ‘Ritmo’, ‘Ronix’, SCRI 9154-3, ‘Šarovidnaja’, ‘Tatjaņin Deņ’, ‘Tiben’, ‘Tines’, ‘Tisel’, ‘Varmas’, VI-2, XII-26 un 79-204-2.
