A Research On Color Perception And Application Examples In Urban Spaces: The Case of China

There are so many studies on the psychological effects of colors. However, these studies were handled in terms of architecture on the basis of residence and interor, and evaluated within the understanding of fashion and clothing design. However, color, is one of the design elements,is a very important phenomenon for happiness and healthy life of people in urban space. The aim of this study is to emphasize the importance of color, which is often ignored at the design stage, in urban space design. The People's Republic of China draws attention with its various designs made in recent years in the context of urban space. When the existing examples are examined, it is understood that color perception is given importance and this subject has received a lot of attention in the country in recent years. However, it is difficult to say that in urban space applications in Turkey, there are predominantly examples where color perception is given importance as well as the aesthetics and functionality of the projects. This situation can perhaps be read as one of the obstacles that prevent urban space projects in our country from becoming centers of attraction. In this study; it is aimed to reveal the duties of the designer in the development of public space design in urban open spaces, which have an important place in the establishment of human relations. The perception effect created by the color choice used has been tried to be revealed through application examples. In order to better understand the purpose, color and its effects and subheadings regarding the use of color in urban spaces were examined. Color and its psychological effects were examined in the spatial context through the projects 100architects, a company that has undertaken various urban space projects in Shanghai, China.
